What is 'Stump Grinding'?

Remove your unwanted stumps so you can reseed or put in new grass

We use a powerful, large piece of equipment to literally grind your stump up to 1 - 1.5 feet below the surface. The disk starts on the edge of the stump and slowly moves back and forth to the opposite edge of the stump.

Stump grinding specifically involves moving the grinder back and forth until it reaches the edge, then moving it down slightly and repeating until the stump has been fully removed.

Stump grinding is the best way to remove your unwanted stumps, so you can clear the way for trees, decorations, grass, shrubs, and more.

Can I replant in the same location?

If we can get the stump ground low enough then it’s possible. Some of the roots may need to be cut manually to make room enough for a new tree.

Can you grind a stump close to the house?

If stumps are too close to a house or there is a permanent obstacle generally we won’t be able to grind them. If they are in retaining walls or heavy sloped areas the chances of getting the grinder to those locations can be next to impossible.

Can the grinder get into my backyard?

The gates need to be at the very least 32” in the opening so it's handy to measure this beforehand.

Can you grind surface roots?

We can certainly grind surface roots. There is an additional charge of $125.00 per hour to grind any surface roots.

How much does stump grinding cost?

Stump grinding is based off of the diameter across at the lowest point on the stump. Usually there are trunk flares that make the stump a fair amount larger. Cost of stump grinding is $7.00 per inch of diameter. We measure two lenths of the stump in a + and average the two lengths. The minimum charge for stump grinding is $90.00 so its often better to have more then 1 stump.
